Chicago Title Insurance Company (“CTIC”) is committed to keeping all personal information that it collects accurate, confidential, secure, and private, and has enacted this Privacy Statement to explain how we achieve these goals.
The purpose of the CTIC Privacy Statement is to inform CTIC’s customers of our information handling practices, the reason for those practices, your rights to your personal information and the security steps in place to protect your information.
The CTIC Privacy Statement applies to information about individuals, not about organizations. CTIC may amend its Privacy Statement from time to time to comply with changes in the law and current business practices. If any changes are material, we will make sure to notify you either by email or through a notice on our web site, which ever is most appropriate in the circumstances.

2. Identifying the Purposes of Collecting Personal Information
Our representatives will inform you of the purposes for which we collect personal information at or before the time of collection. The purposes will be restricted to those which relate to our business. Those purposes include:

In exceptional circumstances, such as preventing fraud or to respond to a legal warrant, we may disclose personal information without the knowledge or consent of the individual, but only as allowed or required by law.

When Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected, it is destroyed, erased, or made anonymous, unless there are legal requirements for its continued retention. CTIC maintains practical and methodical controls and practices for information retention and destruction, including a personal information retention schedule.
Storage abroad
Please note that we may store your personal information in the United States for administrative purposes. When we do, we apply the same high level of safeguards as when it is stored in Canada. You should know, however, that when personal information is stored in one country, the laws of that country may apply to it. 6. Accuracy of Personal Information
CTIC takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information in its possession is accurate, complete, current, and relevant, based upon the most recent information provided to CTIC. Individuals may challenge the accuracy and completeness of personal information about them, and request CTIC to amend it as appropriate by contacting our Privacy Officer as described under Section 1.
7. Safeguarding Personal Information
CTIC protects the personal information it has collected with safeguards suitable to the sensitivity of the information. We make our employees aware of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of the personal information in our possession, and we exercise care in the disposal or destruction of personal information to prevent unauthorized persons from gaining access to the information. Only those employees of CTIC, and its agents, with a business need to know are granted access to the personal information collected by CTIC.
Our methods of protection include physical measures, such as restricted access to our premises, organizational measures such as security clearance and restricting access to those employees who need to have access to the information, and technological measures such as the use of passwords and encryption.

9. Providing Access to, Correction and Disposal of Your Personal Information
You can request access to your personal information collected by CTIC in writing by contacting
our Privacy Officer as described in Section 1.* We will respond within 30 days of the request. If we need an extension to the 30 days to meet the request, we will inform you and justify it. If we cannot provide you access to your information, for example, because doing so would violate the privacy of another person, we will provide you reasons.
When you request access to your personal information, we may require you to provide us with sufficient information to confirm your identity, to protect your privacy, and to allow us to identify and locate your personal information.
If your information is not accurate or complete, we will amend the information as required.
You may also make a written request for us to dispose of your personal information. If it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we collected it, or you have withdrawn consent to providing it or the information was provided to us in contravention of the law, we will dispose of it as soon as possible.
*Note specific to Quebec Law 25 (formerly known as Bill 64). Upon request CTIC must communicate to Quebec residents, in a structured and commonly used technological format, computerized personal information CTIC has collected from them. This communication may also be made to a person or organization authorized to collect the information, at the request of the applicant. We will take all appropriate measures, including if necessary, modifying our policies and practices should our investigation determine that is warranted.
